"Best new esquire 2025 About a year ago Bridges arrived in Chinatown like Chloë Sevigny around the release of Kids. It was the “it” girl of restaurants, part of a long Manhattan tradition of places that manage to balance the temperatures of “hot” and “cool” and dominate a stylish season. (Hey, Balthazar was the same thing back in the spring of 1997, and bliss it was in that dawn to be alive.) We’re betting that Bridges, like Balthazar and Sevigny, can stay put in the zeitgeist for decades, because there’s something about chef Sam Lawrence’s cooking that seems thrillingly immediate yet sturdily timeless. Is his Comté tart with chanterelles a product of 2024 … or 1924? How about the cured tuna with dates or the sardines paired with persimmons? When someplace or someone is truly “it,” it never ends."

"Small but very attractive bridge crossing The Pond near the southeast corner of Central Park. It has views looking back over the Plaza Hotel and other tall northern Midtown buildings, including the world’s skinniest skyscraper called 111 West 57th Street (or Steinway Tower). You might recognize Gapstow Bridge as the place Kevin meets the pigeon lady in Home Alone 2. It’s a fantastic photo spot year round, but it’s extra photogenic on a snow day in the winter."

"The Pond is the southernmost body of water in the park. It is entirely man-made and is fed from the city water supply system. Gapstow Bridge arches over the Pond and offers one of the best views of Midtown from Central Park. It is a classic spot for a photo so have your camera ready. It is also a popular location for marriage proposals to take place - so have a ring with you too!"

"Try standing on the quaint Gapstow Bridge at the small crescent shaped The Pond in the park's southeast corner and see how the skyscrapers of Central Park South is reflected in the lake while swans glide by below you. This bridge feels frozen in time as the rest of the city grows and changes around it, making for especially magical photos."
